Fluffy Slime Recipe without Borax – Step by Step Process
Step 1: Mix white glue, shaving cream and food colouring in a bowl
Pour the white glue and shaving cream into a bowl, and give it good mix using an unwanted spoon or spatula. This will help form your initial version of fluffy slime and you can stop mixing once the mixture starts resembling a pool of melted marshmallow void of any lumps.
Go on and add in a few drops of your desired food colouring for that perfect touch before stirring the mixture again. I would suggest going in with just two to three drops of food colouring first if you prefer a pastel colour for your fluffy slime.
Believe me when I say less is more – I want you to be able to create that pastel-coloured cotton candy fluffiness too! You can always add in a few more drops if you find the colour too light.
Although I chose to keep it simple and suggested food colouring but you can go crazy with your own version of fluffy slime! Add in glitter for that dreamy galactic feel or even drop mini beads in for extra texture. The possibilities are endless!
Step 2: Mix baking soda and contact lens solution in a separate bowl
Get your hands on another bowl and pour in the baking soda and contact lens solution. Ensure that you have enough of the solution covering the baking soda and start mixing away!
Not all recipes include this step but as a slime enthusiast myself, I will not let you go ahead without it. This milky mixture is going to help remove all the tackiness from your fluffy slime. We wouldn’t want that icky sticky feeling on our hands, would we?
Step 3: Add the two bowls of mixtures together
Now is the part that we marry the two mixtures together to create something amazing! Pour your baking soda mixture into the original slime mixture and start mixing. If it still feels tacky to the touch after a good mix, simply add in more contact lens solution.
You will know that it is ready once your slime stops sticking to the sides of the bowl. That’s when you can pick it up and start kneading and folding! Kneading the slime will cause more miniscule air bubbles to be trapped within and your slime will turn out extra fluffy!
With that being said, we do not really want all that fluffy goodness to be exposed to the air for too long. So, always remember to keep your slime in an airtight container when you’re done playing with it. This will guarantee that your fluffy slime will be in tip-top condition for its next playtime!
I hope you have enjoyed this idiot-proof 3-step recipe at making your very own version of fluffy slime without borax! But even more so, I hope you had a whale of a time DIY-ing your first fluffy slime with your kids. You know what they say – the first is always the most special.
