5 services you didn’t know you could get on Carousell

When you browse through our Services category on Carousell, you know you can expect to find reliable plumbers, home movers, and personal trainers. But did you also know you can get someone to complete your jigsaw puzzle or beautify your Powerpoint slides? We take a look at some of the more unusual services you can find in Carousell! 1. Jigsaw puzzle assembly service You know that moment of satisfaction when you hold your partner’s hand, admiring the completed 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle framed perfectly on your wall? Well, most of us don’t because wow those things are frustrating and the two of you would probably just throw those puzzle pieces into the air. But hey, you can still mount a beautifully completed jigsaw puzzle on your wall. Nobody has to know that you paid @shellbyshop to complete the puzzle for you. We won’t tell. 2. Jogging buddy Getting fit and healthy is hard work. It’s even harder when you don’t have supportive friends to encourage you and push you to try harder. Most of us have friends that will just ask you to play videogames …

How to Make Your Skin Look Younger without Breaking the Bank

Everyone pretty much wants the same thing when it comes to skincare. They want to look youthful, hydrated and blemish-free. Unfortunately, a lot of us think gorgeous and glowing skin means spending fat cash at department store beauty counters. But you know, it doesn’t have to be like that at all! One of my colleagues on the Carousell community team is like a total makeup pro, and she showed me that you can get gorgeous skin on a budget, provided you know: What your skin needs What products will work the best for you Where you ought to be shopping to get the best deals Understanding Your Skin Type Sometimes, people end up spending too much on skincare because they don’t take the time to understand their skin type before shopping. When you buy products that aren’t right for your skin type, you end up wasting money in the long run. 💸💸💸 Like, if your skin frequently feels rough and patchy, you’ve got dry skin. If you regularly experience blemishes and see a lot of shine, …

10 rebooted toy franchises

These days, it seems everything is a reboot. Movies, TV shows, songs, and even toys. Sometimes, the reboot is great and makes the toys that much cooler, but sometimes, you kinda wish they just left the classics alone. With the new Power Rangers movie coming out and triggering a trip down memory lane, some of us toy collectors in the office started talking about our favourite toys and how they’ve changed in the past decade or so. If you like any of these toys, you’ll be sure to find a bunch of them, in their classic and new forms, in Carousell’s Toys sub-category. Power Rangers I have to admit, I wasn’t really a big fan of the original Power Rangers or its toys. The Zords seemed to be crappier versions of Voltron, and all in all I was more of a Transformers and Robotech sort of kid. The rebooted toys definitely look like they’ve been given the Michael Bay treatment but despite that, I think the new toys look more like something I’d play with. …

Earth Hour: 5 ideas for some fun in the dark

Earth Hour is happening at 8:30pm this Saturday, 25 March 2017, and we’re really looking forward to it! It’s a great excuse to get your friends together and plan some fun (and wholesome) activities in the dark. If you don’t have any plans already, here are some ideas to get you psyched about Earth Hour. 1. Light up some candles Whether you get sixteen or six of them, candles are a great way to keep yourself from walking into the wall when the lights are off. They’re also great at creating a nice soft mood, especially if they’re scented. If you missed out on a candlelit dinner this past Valentine’s Day, then here’s your second chance to break out the candles. If you’re planning to be outdoors, you might want to try some Citronella tea lights to keep the mosquitoes away, and if you’re still glowing from the new Beauty and the Beast movie, there’s also this Lumiere replica candle! 2. Buy some sun jars If you’re not too fond of open flames or if you …

Bullet Journaling – A Quick Guide to Build your own Bullet Journal

Do you often get this nagging feeling that you forgot something? Abigail. Was it Abigail’s birthday today? We all have a hundred and one things going through our minds at any given point in time, and Bullet Journaling might just be your solution to all that mental clutter. According to science, writing things down helps you remember things better and gives you a better understanding of concepts – much better than if you type it into your laptop. Before I get into the guide on how you can build your own Bullet Journal, here’s my take on how you should approach it: Keep it simple – optimise it for functionality instead of being Instagram-worthy Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good Let’s get started! You’ll only need 2 things: a pen/pencil and paper. Pen/Pencil I am personally inclined towards using pens for my Bullet Journal because it will not fade and my handwriting just appears neater (trust me, it’s true). Even though my Pilot G-1 Grip pen bleeds through the pages a little, it doesn’t really …

3 Easy Recipes for DIY Slime without Borax

While going through the Carousell marketplace lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of interest in slime. That’s right, slime. The goopy, sticky stuff that looks like it came out of a radioactive barrel and will turn pet amphibians into anthropomorphic crime-fighting ninjas.  To find out more about this sticky trend, we turned to our Singapore/Malaysia GM’s daughter Samantha (a self-confessed slime enthusiast) and she wrote us this guest post about making slime. Enjoy, and maybe you can also list your slimy creations on Carousell too! Hi everyone, my name is Samantha and for the last 2 years, I have been obsessed with everything slime.  My first encounter with slime was through a YouTube video about someone making slime and I have been hooked since. Over these two years, I must have made over a hundred slimes and spent almost all of my weekends making all sorts of gooey stuff. Why the interest in making slime? First of all, for some strange reason, it is very stress relieving. After a busy week with school, homework and CCA …
